The Poetry & Pizza Club will be meeting on the following dates during the 2009 - 2010 school year: September 25, October 23, November 20, January 29, February 25, March 19, April 30 and May 28. There will be no cost for attending the meeting. You must have a ticket to attend. In order to get a ticket, you will need to submit one original poem at least one day prior to the meeting, which you are willing to read aloud at the meeting. You must include your name and grade on the poem. Do not submit anything that you do not want displayed in the library or on the library Web page. You may email your poem to dbreece@cougarsread.info or bring a copy to the library media center. The poem may be on any subject, and in any form, provided that the content of the poem is not vulgar or offensive, does not employ profanity, and is the original, individual work of the student. Any variations to the rules must be approved by the library media specialist. Acceptance of poems is at the discretion of the library media specialist. A good poem will make you feel something. It might make you cry or it might make you laugh. It might give you goose bumps! A poem that you wrote for a friend can be a better gift than anything you could buy. Good poetry is hard to forget and easy to share. Read some and then write some. Poetry is good for the soul. |
